but my overall thoughts from the demo were that this is sadly going to end up quite mediocre. I saw they've updated the demo, so I reinstalled it last night with a view to giving it another shot. I had to turn off the demo when the character exclaimed "put that in your pipe and smoke it". If you're going to give us constant one liners, at least put some gusto behind them IMO. It was as if they were recorded in a vacuum, with no context to them. However the controls felt off, and the constant one liners from the two protagonists were sending me into cringe overload. I had heard a lot of negative feelings towards it but went in with an open mind. I was quite excited for the game, until i played the demo. The art style and overall graphical presentation looked fantastic, combined with what was presented as an interesting protagonist. When I saw this game originally revealed under the name Project Athia, I thought it looked amazing. Each scene took me around 45 to 80 seconds before they show up, which became a major annoyance.I want this game to succeed. There’s just one problem: the load times are atrocious. It starts from the streets of New York, followed by two lairs of different monsters, a sweeping view of Athia, and so on. Rather, it’s a series of scenes that are shown in sequence. PC benchmark results and load timesįorspoken‘s PC benchmark does not play a long, continuous scene. Moreover, I went with a 120 fps cap with v-sync turned off. I swapped between the available presets, though I made sure to switch to Custom so I can pick DLSS – Performance, while also disabling motion blur, and depth of field.

I also talk about ray tracing and ambient occlusion a bit later in our Forspoken PC performance article.įor my tests and playthrough, I decided to stick to 4K resolution. As usual, reflections, shadow quality, and ray traced shadows tend to impact performance significantly. You’re going to move and spin around a lot, and these might make you dizzy. I would suggest disabling motion blur and depth of field here due to the open-world nature of the title.Post Filters – This has a bunch of effects, like ray tracing, shadow/fog/cloud quality, motion blur, depth of field, and ambient occlusion. If you have an Nvidia RTX card, though, you can opt to go with Nvidia’s DLSS instead, which also has the same settings. Image Quality – By default, the game will let you use AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution 2, so you can swap between Balanced, Performance, Ultra Performance, or Quality. It’s worth noting that you need to switch to Custom before you can fiddle around with other options. Presets – You’ve got Low, Standard, High, Ultra High, and Custom. The graphics settings, meanwhile, have a whole slew of things that you can change or toggle:.The display panel lets you change your screen resolution, framerate cap (i.e., 30/60/120 fps), and VSync.
